Kimberly Lambacher

I am a confessed information hoarder and latte junkie, a dissecologist of words, a sarcasm guru, a dachshund enthusiast, and an amateur philosopher. You should be warned that I have been diagnosed with an incurable case of "stick-it-to-the-man-itis" and support independent small businesses and other freelancers. I stand accused of being a perfectionist, a claim I neither confirm nor deny. I hope you enjoy reading my work, and welcome you to send your comments or topic suggestions via the contact page.
Who am I? Still searching.
I was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, where a patch of land by the road is called a 'devil strip,' a vacuum is called a 'sweeper,' and every variety of soda is called 'pop,' where Ohio State football is a pseudoreligion and, of course, where LeBron is from. And, yes, it's a thing in Ohio; when anyone in the vicinity yells "OH!" at least one person will respond with "IO!" no matter where you are in the country.
So who am I? I am, first and foremost, a wife, mother, and now a grandmother. After being diagnosed with a rare spinal tumor in 2017, I had to re-examine life and adjust to not just being a regular person, but a "person in pain." Lola (yes, I named my tumor) left me with unrelenting neuropathy that is now a part of my everyday life. Still, I have to thank Lola, as she did something no one or anything else could accomplish - she gave me the courage to open myself up and share my writing with others, and to approach life with a different lens: one of taking more risks.
I like to think that I was destined for writing and investigative journalism; the joke in my family was that my first word was not "mama" but "why." The truth is, though, I don't have a writing niche. But I do have a unique ability to mimic various writing styles and techniques, which makes me an effective generalist writer. I enjoy learning and writing about a wide range of topics, and I'm particularly fascinated by people and uncovering what makes them tick, which makes me an effective interviewer and researcher. A significant part of my identity stems from my ability to harness my innate curiosity and use my sense of humor to both enhance my writing and cope with life's sorrows.
I am also a small business owner along with my husband and best friend of 33 years. Together, we operate an online auction business that helps individuals in Ohio downsize their possessions when relocating. In my spare time, I love hanging out with family and our two precocious dachshunds (George and Henry), reading, traveling, visiting historical sites and waterfalls, hiking, playing word games and reading legal documents for funsies.
